Who We Are

The York Region Alliance of African Canadian Communities (York Region AACC) is a not-for-profit organization established January 2016 specifically to foster a progressive and cohesive York Region African Canadian Community.

The York Region AACC was established because we believe there is a current void within the region, the absence of an organization, which represents the interest of Black residents of all nine municipalities (i.e., Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Newmarket, Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, and Whitchurch-Stouffville), particularly pertaining to advocacy, resource development and service delivery.

We believe that other members of our community share this view, and will provide support in kind.

The African Canadian community in York Region is robust, hardworking and filled with skills and many assets. We support African Canadian families within York Region who feel powerless and voiceless in accessing justice, public services and social institutions. We are intent on being advocates, and capacity builders to support those in need.
